Colonel Tom Moore – We Salute You!

In a time where everything seems so, so bad, there are glimpses of happiness and hope. There are so many people offering to help others, help to our key workers, neighbours and even strangers. These acts of kindness aren’t being reported much so we plan to scour the world for good news stories and share them on here – feel free to raise a smile and share. Good News Today:

The UK’s leading food-delivery company has announced that it has delivered hundreds of free hot meals to NHS staff, essential workers and vulnerable groups. This comes as part of a Deliveroo’s pledge to make 500,000 free meals available to frontline NHS workers and vulnerable groups across the UK.

A man in France entertained his neighbours with a spot-on Freddie Mercury impression. Complete with a white tank top, tight jeans, and a spot-on moustache, one man in France, with the help of his handy vacuum, entertained his neighbours during quarantine with a delightful impersonation of the late, great Freddie Mercury, frontman of the iconic rock band Queen. With an entirely apt lip-sync of the band’s hit “I Want to Break Free.”

A mother who gave birth while battling Covid-19 on a ventilator has beaten the virus. Megan Sites, 27, underwent an emergency cesarean section to deliver her son at 29 weeks and six days this month as she battled the deadly virus on a ‘near-last resort’ ventilating machine that replaces the heart and lungs of a patient. She now credits her medical team and the treatment for saving her life after she said her husband was told she had less than a 40% chance at survival. After ten days, Sites was finally able to see her baby, named Jameson, who is still in the hospital although doctors said he is healthy with no signs of coronavirus.

And finally… Captain Tom Moore, who raised more than £29m for the NHS by walking laps of his garden, has been made an honorary colonel on his 100th birthday. The war veteran will mark the occasion with thousands of birthday cards, including one from the Queen. Happy Birthday Colonel Tom Moore.
